“An  Inkling”

I’ve got an idea for a column… or not. Okay, I’ve got 14 ideas for a column. MY problem is that  I can’t pick one. I just found out that’s called writer’s block, too. Great. I thought writer’s block was when you couldn’t think of anything to write about. I didn’t think it had anything to do with having too much to write about and not being able to choose. Crimony.  So when I have a really good idea, I have to train myself to stop and write notes and try to focus on writing the piece.

I get a lot of my ideas when I first wake up. I have to figure out what day it is when I wake up in the afternoon. Yes, I’m a loon so I work until dawn, usually. I do my better work during those hours.

How am I going to write down my idea that came from a dream? I can barely dress myself right after I wake up and by then, sometimes I forget about the great story idea. Fortunately, I also get good ideas while I clean kitty litter boxes or pay bills. Of course, the downside there is that one day, I was cleaning one of the boxes and I went  to find a box of new kitty litter and almost put the box in the freezer. When I realized what I did while I was forming my article, one of the kitties had already walked into the litter box and gave me a look you wouldn’t believe could come from your pet.

Pretty much like, “What are you, nuts? It’s not like I can take care of this stuff myself, ya know.” I was actually embarrassed.  By a cat.

 Focus, Lyne.
