I had to take a break from working on the site to finish up my book due on Dec. 31. But I’m back now, in Vegas for the 20BooksVegas conference.
If you haven’t heard of this conference, you should. It’s entirely focused on the business of independent publishing. vendors, panels, presentations—the amount of information disseminated during this conference is astounding. It’s a little expensive, but it is well worth the money. A lot of the vendors there are featured on this site, as well.
I stopped at the Vellum table and looked at all the beautiful books that had been created with their product. Told them how much I liked the latest update. I also told them they should make it possible to import InDesign files. they refused, probably because it would be extremely difficult and useful to exactly one user: me.
But even better than vendors we already know about, there are new vendors there, too. This is very useful to us here at Written Well, as we can test out products we otherwise might not have heard about, or heard about later rather than right after launching. I’ve got a big old pile of swag and business cards to comb through for new opportunities for our members.
Tomorrow, the panels and presentations start and I can’t wait.
